we checked with the adjuster, normally there are 3 case scenarios resulting different outcomes:
1. the worst: the plate license number is fake (extremely unlike), therefore my insurance company is not able to get the insurance information of the offensive vehicle, then we will pay for all damages ourselves.
2. the compromised: the license number is real but the offensive driver has NO valid insurance policy, then we pay deductible and insurance pay the excessive amount
3. the best: the offensive driver has real license number and valid insurance policy, BINGO, he got caught! we don't pay anything, no any negative impact on our insurance record and rate!

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Accident brief: happened in a parking lot of shopping mall where my car was legally parked and unattended, a van hit the back of my car and left a light scratch, a lady eye-witnessed the entire happening and voluntarily left her contact info for witness purpose. the guy in the van refused to remain in the scene and just drove away with being appearing "do whatever you do and I don't care" which was truely annoying.
My actions: 1. wrote down the plate license number and communicated the lady to make sure she's willing to be witnessFile a hit & run report with police station close to the site where this accident happened;
2. called my insurance company within 24 hours to report this accident and provided the file number of police;
3. went to designated auto shop for repairs assessment ~$1000;
4. received a call from my adjuster that she confirmed with us we don't need to pay for repairs even we have deductible and also it'll not be considered as the forgiveness, which means NO any financial impact to you or your insurance rate, but definitely the guy got screwed up on his driving records and insurance premium.更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

因为我的deductible高，还在考虑要不要自己去修不走保险。早上去就近的事故中心，警察了解情况后建议上报，原因和要不要保险和赔偿没关系，对方行为是CRIME。但是要去多伦多的，因为事故在多伦多发生。去了多伦多事故中心，那里的警察的建议和理由也是一样的。我们决定报，警察问有没有撞坏，我们说没有。他去检查回来后指给我们，有撞坏。我们只检查了车尾下面黑色塑料那里，没看尾巴上面，后备箱后门右边缝是大的，右边有一块突出来一点。

richmond hill事故中心里都是警察处理，toronto的先有普通接待员处理，然后警察处理。损失评估是1800，告知会把事故信息和保险公司分析，保险公司的评估价格可能有不同。报告完毕，不用再去警察局了 -panda4(panda4); 2017-1-6 (#10530437@0)
