The food maybe a little bit expensive(really not that bad) but the house is much cheaper than Toronto even the house market in Ottawa is still red hot now. As CISCO paid someone 150K, that someone must be a
top designer since NT top designers are paid similarly. But most of people should be only paid around 80-100K. It is just telecom. A lot of people in Ottawa work for the public service and the salary are lower than telecom sector, still they are living pretty decent life. Hi-tech workers are only 10% of the work force in Ottawa.:)

其实没有这边意义上的chinatown,但是在somerset从bronson往西有些华人超市。本身这片地方就是downtown了。最大的是九龙和168，东西比这里贵不少，比较典型的例子是，多伦多温哥华蟹卖3.99的时候，168的大石蟹还卖7.99（据我朋友所说）。吃来说，多伦多要比渥太华好很多。渥太华确实不是个很大的城市。但是夏天的时候，那也确实是个漂亮的小城（非华人街所在地区）

I guess I know it so I will answer it for you :). Chinatown in Ottawa is on Somerset street. It is just a couple of minutes of drive from downtown to Chinatown -wade(wade); 2003-3-15 {457} (#1089815@0)
Chinatown in Ottawa is very small, just a few blocks long on Somerset street. There are 2 relatively big Chinese Grocery stores there and a bunch of small ones. You can get almost everything you need for daily life. Most of stuff are a little bit expensive than in Toronto, but it is definitely affordable. Other than grocery store, there are barber's place, cake/cookie stores and of course retaraunts. The Chinese restaraunts in Ottawa are pretty bad :).

差价并没有那么明显，只是我记住了几个比较显著的例子。渥太华无论从环境还是治安来说都很不错。人也更友好一些。680是离downtown大约40分钟公车的地方，downtown的one-bed room要贵一些。我们学校附近因为供求关系的缘故就要790。我认为你还是会适应的

that you may have chance to bump with all those TV politician figures on the street, just like ordinary people. I did twice. John Manley himself also mentioned that the day he revealed the fed budget he actually skated to downtown, all by himself :). Amazingly, noone on Canal even recognized him :). I hope you enjoy the life in Ottawa.
