妾的儿女，The Concubine’s Children 英文原版于1995年，2013年中文翻译版大陆发行。讲述作者Denise Chong （郑霭龄）外公外婆1920年代在加拿大生活的纪实小说。在最新版的序言的第一段Tess Gerritsen写到：

When I was a child, my family would sometimes drive up the coast from San Diego to San Francisco to visit relatives and to shop and dine in Chinatown. I‘d walk wide-eyed down Grant Avenue, marveling at grocery store tans meeting with live fish and feeling overwhelmed by the crowded streets, the bright colors, and the noisy chatter of Cantonese. But amid all that bustling activity, one poignant image still haunts me: the group of elderly Chinese men sitting in the park, playing board games.

 “Why are there only men and no women?” I asked my father. And he said, “They came here a long time ago, but Chinese women couldn’t come into the country, so those men could never marry or have children. Now they’re waiting to die.”

剩下的只是等死；从温哥华一路南下到哈瓦那的唐人街。百年过去，重复的只有时间。郑霭龄的WIKI甚至没有中文的记录。人到中年，搞不清我们是谁，我们为什么要来这里，我们最终要去哪里。

Denise Chong 目前有四本书出版，只有妾的儿女被翻译成简体中文。
