Maple Card process time

We landed on May 17, 2003, and submit the Maple Card application meanwhile. Actually the immigration officer filled all information in his computer for us. It has been almost seven weeks since then, but we still don't have any information about the maple card. My friend tried to call the 1-800 number many many times for us, but never get connected. We came back to US right after landing. Recently we booked appointment for visa interview in American Consulate of Toronto at the end of July. Just worry about that if we won't have the maple card by then whether we can go to canada by using the IMM5292 -- Confirmation of Permament Residence. We are going to drive from Detroit area to Toronto. Thank you for your information.

      The serious problem for you is that the US consulate may decline your visas back to America. You should fully prepared that if it happens. It happened to me. You still can enter in Canada with your landing paper before Dec. 31 2003.

        Thank you for sharing. Can you tell me the details of your experience? Like what kind of visa you applied, what did the VO ask you? When you applied the visa, etc. Thanks again. Since I got approved after January, I only have imm5292 on hand, not imm1000. I asked few places about this subject, I was all told I couldn't reenter canada without maple card.
