It's a common misconception that COVID vaccines do not prevent infections. This is likely originated from the innitial phase 3 trials that were designed to test for their efficacies in preventing symptomatic infection only. These trials did not address the question whether vaccines have any effect on asymptomatic infections. Since the vaccine rolling out, more real world data and new trial results have become available.
