Historically viral resistance against vaccine occurs at a much slower pace (see below picture). This is likely due to fact the antibiotics are small molecules with a very simple mechanism to directly kill bacteria, while vaccines trains our immune system to fight off infections using multiple mechanisms. This still holds true with COVID. Omicron harbours many mutations in its spike, but still cannot escape cuurent vaccines completely. Is vaccine-induced viral evolution a big concern? Absolutely. Do we need to give up on vaccines or be afraid of vaccines? absolutely not.
