What if

What if I am wrong,
that the wind brings your fragrance,
that the twining trails thirst for our footprints,
that the beach cradles those waves deep from the ocean?

What if I am wrong,
that the moon waxing or waning in our pattern,
that the oasis is only another cloud castle,
that the voyage sets off on wrong wings?

What if
the door I fear to knock at will protect
no blossom to burst,
no rustle from leaves?

What if
there will be no fire to
take away my breath
as the starry night ends in a knot?

What if
I will leave with no answer?
What if
you will dig my ashes sometimes later.
