It happened to me not only once, but twice.

The first time, I came to know that I missed the exam, only after I received a letter from CIC, saying that I did not attend the test, but they will give me another chance.
2nd time, I got the letter two days after the scheduled test. I called CIC, and was told that since I missed two tests, I have to go for an interview with the judge.
I was very upset, and decided to send a fax explaining everything again in written.
Few weeks later, I got letter for exam, and this time I did not miss anything.
So explain them what happened, over the phone or in written, hope it will work out.
