Job Description IMPACT OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the Manager, NOC, the Network Analyst will be responsible for providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 level support for the network. The Network Analyst will work with the NOC Technicians to trouble shoot and resolve customer and network outages. He/she will be responsible for data mining, trend analysis, and utilization reporting.
Fundamentally, your focus will be on the health of xxxxxxxx's data, IP, and Internet routed networks.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Solid working experience with the IP protocol used in Routing, Ethernet switching and ATM networks.
Working level experience with common Routing protocols in an Internet environment. Some examples include TCP/IP, IS-IS, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
Working knowledge of VPN's and experience deploying VPN's on a variety of network technologies, i.e. ISDN, Ethernet, Frame Relay, xDSL, etc.
Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, ATM switches, Sniffers and Protocol Analyzers.
Strong troubleshooting skills relating to data networks.
Highly self motivated and ability to work with little supervision.
Strong Documentation Skills required - knowledge of Microsoft Office and Visio.
Clear understanding of design principles related to internetworking.
Previous experience working in a Network Operations Center as a Network Analyst or as a Tier 1 support specialist.
Strong Analytical and Organizational Skills.
Strong Interpersonal skills and capable of working under stressful conditions with co-workers in a professional manner.
Basic knowledge of office productivity software, MS Office Suite etc.
Ability to work, schedule and meet deadlines under pressure creatively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide Tier 2 support solving network problems on the xxx data network.
On Call (rotational shift), for 2nd tier trouble shooting with the NOC.
Assist NOC technicians with Tier 2 & 3 level support for voice, data, and Internet related services.
Minimum Requirements
Five years of work experience in the data-networking field.
Post Secondary Education in Engineering, Computer Science or Electronics.
Cisco background mandatory and Unix background desirable
This position includes on-call shifts to cover 7X24 support.
