owners' comments for Suzuki Vitara (98 model)

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛My car isn't too bad. Actually, It's better than I thought it would be. I't took a little getting used to since I used to drive boats, and this SUV is so small. It has a lot of pep in the little 2.0L engine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love my car! It's sporty looking and runs great!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really like my car and would recommend it to others. My dream car would have been a Subaru Forester, but since my father was a car dealer of Chevy's, I was loyal to what put me through college and bought a Chevy (Chevy Tracker was not available as an option on this survey so I chose the Vitara since they are one in the same). This is my first car that I own (no more demos for me) and that may have a great deal to do with my enthusiasm for it - I have not even had it a month yet. It is very roomy, cute, and comfortable to drive - I wish it had a bit more get-up-and-go but what do you expect froma 4 cil. right?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like my car because I can sit up higher and see. I'm short and it's a good way to feel tall for once in my life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suzuki Grand Vitara V6 I love it. Value, utility, fit and finish, styling are fantastic. Everyone wants to know what it is, drive it, and know how much it costs. ps. there are two Vitara models. The Grand Vitara with a V6 and the Vitara with a 4 cylinder. The bodies and standard equipment are very different. There are only 3 options on the Grand Vitara- ABS, 4WD, and A/T. Everything else is standard.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Tom and Ray, I had just brought my new Vitara home from the dealer when I heard my first Car-o-scope. (We a little out of touch having been living in southeast Asia and New Zealand for the last 3 years.) So I ran in and read about the Vitara! ACK!!! Our daughter, 26 years old, no known hemorroids, had just bought a Grand Vitara and since there is not a car on the planet that I can afford (don't be deceived by the family income, we also support an ex-wife) that I also like, I said "oh well" and bought the thing. In truth, we had rented a Grand Vitara one long weekend in NZ and had alot of fun with it, but you're right, I'm 'frugal', and bought the plain Jane, no frills model. Now I worried I've made a terrible mistake. I'm sure you're not going to reassure me otherwise, but we'll all have a good laugh. Glad to be back in CarTalk territory. Pam

Overall, I'm pleased with my Suzuki Grand Vitara. Coming from a V-8 Grand Cherokee Limited was difficult, being as there was quite a bit of luxury-SUV withdrawal to go through. However, the Zuk starts and runs every time you turn the key, and it doesn't rattle. I expect the transmission to last longer than 67k miles, too, which is why the Grand Cherokee went bye-bye. Gas mileage is much better than I expected, 25 or so on average. This is with the five speed and 4wd. Even towing a 1,200 lb. trailer, I still get around 18 at 70-80 mph. Highs: 4wd works nicley, it handles really well for an SUV, good fuel economy, solid overall feel, peppy/eager to rev V-6, the ride quality is better than my old Grand Cherokee, will cruise at 85 mph all day long, tows trailers well for such a small vehicle, great value as you can get one loaded for $20k. Lows: Interior plastic scratches if you look at it hard, low cargo volume, manual transmission is kinda clunky, daytime running/automatic headlights are annoying (but easily disabled if you know where the relay is, see the GV message board at suv.com), crappy factory radio, optional armrest should be standard, no moonroof option, tires are an odd size should you want to use an off-road design. Speaking of factory tires, you'll be lucky to get 30k out of them. At 16k, mine are just over half gone.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love it. Just the right size, it's solid, fast enough, and looks good. Also, it didn't bankrupt me to buy it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really love this car! Its a great family car with four doors and plenty of room, but sporty and cute as to not look like the traditional family car. Thats important to this mom, not always wanting to look like a mom! Overall, its a great car and fun to drive.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like the maneuverability of my Vitera, especially since it lets me quickly squeeze into postage stamp sized parking places, where no car of mine has gone before. The seating in the front is pretty comfy, even on long rides. The rear door is very easy to open, refrigerator-style. And, it's kinda cute... However, on the downside: * The backseat area is built to hold two, maybe three guppies in luxurious comfort. * The topheavy Vitara's ride is *scary* on windy days (but hey, I pay big bucks for the same effect at Busch Gardens!), especially since I often drive over several long bridges. The SUV gets pushed all over the place, and I can't swim (but those lucky aforementioned guppies will be just fine...) * Have you ever been to the dentist and heard a mechanical molar grinder go on and on and on...? That's the way the struggling transmission sounded when we left the flatlands of eastern Virginia and rolled into the gentle hills of Maryland. Geez, my teeth hurt! I was thinking of driving up to the mountains of western Virginia; oh, what an adventure *that* should be...! But it is cute. Janet

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I actually really like the Suzuki Vitara. It has a 5.5 quart oil sump! I really like the idea of my 2.0 liter 4-cyl having more oil capacity than some 4 and 5 liter V-8 engines. The vehicle also has a real frame and uses real 80/90 wt gear oil in the transmission, transfer case and diffs. The power is ok, as is the handling. I paid only 13,999 brand new off the lot for a LOADED 5-speed with alloy wheels. I can fit my kids when I have to, great for camping, holds my canoe well and still gets about 21 - 23 mpg in town and 27 on the highway. So far it has been very reliable, solid, and is a far better vehicle of this type than the stupid Kia Sportage I had previously. If a Toyota 4- runner and a Miata had a child, the Vitara would be the outcome.

                • why?
      • Jeep Liberty, Jeep TJ,
      • RAV4,CRV
        • 三菱is coming back Canada this year. Their smallest suv is to be as expensive as rav, which I read from newspaper.
