Have you tried to work as volunteer first.

Afer you get some real experience, it should be easier. I know some development company where data is not so important provide this opportunity.

Here are some common interview question other than OCP questions.
1. How big is your database? or how many tables do you have? ( for development environment)
2. How many concurrent users do you usually have?
3. What's your backup strategy?
4. What tools do you use to make your ERD (schema in some company)?

I can't remember too much so far. I'll publish later as anything pop up.

    • I'm Oracle Developer. In my understanding, ORACLE DBA position need long experiences, at least 5 years. Have you ORACLE experience before, if so, maybe we can share some infor:-)
    • my personal experience
if you don't have any working experience as an Oracle DBA before, it's very unlikely that you can get the DBA job here in Canada. I got my OCP on Oracle DBA in Canada, but no company wanted to hire me because my lack of previous experience.
      • Hi, I don't know if you come here very often. If you do, can I ask you a question about OCP?
You mentioned that you got your OCP in Canada, do you learn them all by yourself or you took some instructor-lead courses here? What I am asking is do you think it is possible to learn just by yourself in order to get OCP DEBA?
        Any suggestion is welcome

        Thank you

        • You are right. I met those questions before. But my question is not how to get into Database field, but how to study to get OCP DBA certificate....
I heard someone who take a course for this certificate mentions that there are some training classes providing exams so you can working on it in order to pass OCP. Is it works? or is it the only way to pass OCP?
Oracle University has 5 days class for $3000 in New York. That's too expensive for everyone.
Any advice for how to prepare OCP 8i DBA?

          Thanks a lot
          • try www.oraclefan.net
            • Thank you for answering my question. That is exactly what I need. Hopefull, I will meet you here again. Have a good day!
    • I have four years of ORACLE developer experience in famous big company in China, but there is still so little feedback after I sent resume :-( For DBA, much more experience needed
      • Wander, which development tools do you user? Do you know which Oracle development tools are popular and competitive in Canada?
    • It depends your speaking English ability.
      So does UNIX
      • should be spoken english ability
    • my friends told me there is no junior DBA position in the market. So If you have good English and skills , then you can find one.
      • It depends. There are still some position on ORACLE DBA from junior to senior. but you must have a good english. It needs a lot communication with others as a DBA.
        • Comparing with the Java and Oracle DBA, which one is easy and less competion in future?
          • It depends on your background. DBA needs more experience, JAVA needs more energy.
