I can give you some setting about my oracle database:

lilyba(Sunshine)
when i connect oracle server:

SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Thu Apr 18 12:04:13 2002
(c) Copyright 2000 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Connected to:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production.

I build my oracle database:
oracle_sid: maximo

I use "typical" to build the server.

I did not do any configuration for oracle server since this database is not big, I just need to make some test.

when I try to connect database by a application, which is used to build my application database (I set the database name 'maximo' too), this error occur:
The database must be either sybase, oracle, or microsoft sql server.


i am an oracle dummy.

    1。运行sql*plus,用system/manager和maximo连接数据库成功。但是不能打开*.sql文件。得到如下错误：SP2-0423: Illegal GET command
    2。当应用一执行文件创建另一个数据库时，得到如下错误：
    ora-12154：tns: could not resolve service name.

    请大虾伸手相助。

            • I have no idea of maximo. But you can create a database only when you connect to a started instance with no mount dB in Oracle. -cyt(Work for Friday); 2002-4-18 {272} (#466437@0)
              I'm not sure if you only need to create a new user with a set of tables. (It's almost same as a DB in SQL Server). Are you living in Toronto or Missisuague? If you don't mind, please send me a mail with your phone number. It will be easier for us to discuss in details
