Let me put it in this way. We kind of agree with each other on the importance of grasping knowledge, eg, mathemaics, physics, computer science, blah, blah, blah. But,

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛we need to learn these knowledge, right? So, here comes a question, which is more important, having knowledge in our head, or having the abilities to learn different knowledge?

I tend to agree that grasping the abilities to learn different knowledge is more important, since knowledge keeps updating itself. If what I think is true, then there will be another question: how to obtain abilities to learn different knowledge? Again, through learning ? Then I'm sort of escalated to the second order logic, how to learn to learn knowledge.

Actually, this is a question brought up in a discussion among me and my roommates when I was a freshman. And the result, as you can easily expect, is silence among us, since there was no answer at that time, and I'm still not sure about it for now.

In order to gain a skill or an experience of learning different knowledge, I forced myself to learn different knowledge, taking courses from different majors, from science to technology, to foreign languages during my 4-year undergraduate studies. I didn't care much about the grades of courses of my major. I wasn't an excellent student at all.

After all these efforts I made, the question is nothing but a question. And what I realized is nothing but keep learning all life and never too late to learn.

没有足量的 KNOWLEDGE 搭不成 CAPABILITY/CAPACITY 的广厦。 没有 CAPABILITY / CAPACILITY 又不能知道更高层的 KNOWLEDGE INTAKE。
          • 触类旁通。要触--要类--要旁--要通。
