Otherwise,

(1) You need to be able to manage the lawyer (most important),
(2) Your lawyer possesses "reasonable" degree of ethics, diligence, and is cooperative to follow your "reasonable" instructions,
(3) You need to have a back-up lawyer.

If you cannot manage the lawyer by yourself, find an "experienced" person, who is willing to help you to manage the lawyer, look after your interest and function as your advisor for free.

By the way, "他说我必须答应对方所有要求，否则他就不做我的律师了" sounds he is threatening or pressuring, and taking advantage of you without due respect, due to your in-experience and vulnerability. "对方所有要求" cannot be all reasonable, nor your situation falls into "Time is of the essence" category. Therefore, there is no rush to conclude your legal matter until you feel "very comfortable" and then accept a fair settlement/agreement.
