I never planted coffee, nor roasted them:). I normally buy roasted coffee bean from coffee store(like bridgehead). When I want to drink coffee, I would grind the bean first and then use French Press to make it. Normally, the coffee taste pretty good when making this way. You should be able to buy grinder and French Press in Coffee Shop Chain or any Kitchen Wear store

There are different kind of coffees. When you buy coffee beans, you have to know what kind of coffee you like the most. Mild tasted or bitter one? Or even flavored one.

As to coffee stores I still like Bridgehead the most. I find Starbucks normally too strong, same as Tim Hortons. The best Coffee I had was actually in Chengdu, a small coffee shop. I was quite amazed at how great that cup of coffee tasted.
