Probably you have to use that documentation. For such things, books are usuaully obsolete.

You have no choice for IBM.For products of IBM there are few step-by-step documents but lots of reference or guidance exept the training materials ( you can not get them on the market). I am an IBM mainframe programmer, I have the awful experience of learning IBM. But I think IBM software is the best not only on mainframe for the time being.
