1.To ensure that IKEA Canada complies with all relevant corporate income and sales tax laws on a timely basis.
2.Responsible for providing tax information for financial statement reporting and assisting the Tax, Treasury and Legal Manager in delivering transfer pricing documentation and special projects.
Your Goals:
•Assist with the preparation of corporate income tax returns for all IKEA Canada companies.
•Reconciliation and adjustment of tax provisions to filings and assessments.
•Prepare work papers to support tax return filings.
•Assist management with the preparation and review of current and future tax provisions.
•Review monthly tax reconciliations and commodity tax returns for filing.
•Assist with the review of correspondence from tax authorities, including tying assessments to filed returns and reconciling indentified discrepancies.
•Provide assistance in managing the transfer pricing process.
•Assist with Government corporate tax audits including: analytical support, collection of information, preparation of responses and dealing directly with auditors.
•Liaise with matrix partners on tax matters.
•Assist with legal entity reporting and other corporate finance responsibilities/projects such as Treasury Management.
Desired Skills & Experience
You Have:
• An undergraduate degree in accounting, business, commerce or equivalent.
•Mtax degree or CICA in-depth tax course in progress or completed…an asset.
•A Professional designation in accounting (CA, CMA or CGA)…an asset.
•1-3 years of Direct and/or Indirect Tax experience.
•Proficiency in Excel, tax preparation and tax research software.
•Proficiency in accounting principles and knowledge of Canadian tax legislation.
•Experience in Transfer pricing activities would be an asset.
•Advanced analytical skills and detail orientation.
•A high level of enthusiasm, considerable motivation and a strong willingness to learn.
•The ability to operate independently and communicate effectively at all levels of a fast-paced change-oriented organization.
Your Workplace:
•Fast-paced, deadline driven office environment.
•This role is based at our Canadian Service Office in Burlington, Ontario
•20% domestic and occasional international travel
