Treasurer – Pension Fund Society Annual Salary Range: $99,754.20 - $124,706.40 (Level 12).

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer – Pension Fund Society, you are responsible for directing and overseeing the financial reporting activities of the Toronto Transit Commission Pension Fund Society (the Fund) and the TTC Retirement Compensation Arrangement. You ensure that the assets, liabilities, income and expenses are accurately and appropriately reviewed, analyzed, monitored and recorded, and that all financial, reporting and regulatory obligations are met on a timely basis. You are the primary financial spokesperson for the Fund, and directly assist the Chief Operating Officer on all strategic and tactical matters relating to the development of the Fund’s investment programs, and its investment activities. Your responsibilities include: developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate internal management control systems to safeguard the Fund’s financial assets and ensure compliance with all regulatory obligations; managing all fiscal reporting activities including but not limited to complex financial reports, regulatory filings, investment managers’ compliance reports, reconciliations, etc.; ensuring the integrity of the Fund’s assets during portfolio transfers between investment managers, as well as proper coordination and dissemination of information with other internal/external parties (Board of Directors, custodian, actuary, auditors, etc.); monitoring the Department’s banking activities for sufficient cash flow; reviewing and approving all pension payroll and vendor distribution transactions; participating in Pension Fund Society Board, Annual General, and other meetings, assuming the lead responsibility for presentation of the Fund’s financial reports; preparing various analyses and recommendations relating to areas of responsibility; and directing and supervising staff engaged in related activities. You are responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience
You require an in-depth, demonstrated knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and other relevant legislation and practices relating to pension funds and employee benefits. Must have a thorough knowledge of investment market and various investment vehicles (stocks, bonds, derivatives, real estate, infrastructure, private equity etc.). Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees. You must possess sound judgement; highly developed organizational, administrative, analytical and problem solving abilities; superior interpersonal, facilitation, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills; and a highly effective ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with many internal/external parties. Must also have strong PC skills in MS software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and demonstrated experience with accounting systems. Must have the ability to direct, supervise and motivate subordinate staff. These skills and knowledge would normally be obtained through a University degree in a relevant discipline such as Accounting, Business Administration, or the equivalent, combined with extensive professional accounting and financial reporting experience. A recognized Canadian accounting designation is required.


Annual Salary Range: $99,754.20 - $124,706.40 (Level 12).

    • Pension is one of the difficult things to do. My work needs to do some analysis related to it. Really complex.
