Dear CGAs and students:
We have an exciting update about the CGA Program of Professional Studies.
For some time now, CGA-Canada has been working on program enhancements based on an extensive consultation process with leaders in academia, business, industry and the accounting profession. Our special task force considered the changing needs of the profession, technology and professional education to ensure that CGA maintains its position of offering Canada’s most advanced and demanding financial management and business leadership program.
Why enhance the program now? CGA has always been a leader in accounting education and professional certification, in Canada and internationally. So, the enrichments we are planning are entirely in keeping with our long-standing strategy of continuously evolving CGA’s certification model. We’ve done a full assessment within the changing accounting-program marketplace and believe this is an ideal time to take our already popular and highly respected offering — and raise our game.
These enhancements will ensure the delivery of a program that continues to exceed the demands of employers and clients and provides exceptional career opportunities. They include:
Additional professional preparation and assessment opportunities;
Greater emphasis on leadership and communication skills.
We will be sharing more details with you in the months ahead, as will CGA affiliates across the country. Rest assured, the CGA program’s key attributes — rigorous, comprehensive, yet accessible and flexible — will remain and serve as a strong foundation for our program. So, too, will the emphasis on providing the widest possible practical experience, professional knowledge, professionalism and leadership —the pillars of the program and the seeds of our members’ success.
