About half of the group is based at the Army’s head office in Toronto, with the remaining staff located in Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal and St. John’s.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior General Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Accounting with the operations of the general accounting section of the Finance Department. He/she will be directly responsible for bank reconciliations, deposit and trust account management, journal entries to record allocations and accruals, as well as property-related transactions residing in the Fixed Assets and Job Cost modules, including Capital Projects, depreciation, property purchases and disposals. The Senior General Accountant will assist with chart of account maintenance, month-end and year-end closings, preparation of related trial balance, general ledger reports, monthly balance sheet analysis and year-end financial schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be enrolled in either the CMA or CGA at an advanced level and have 3 to 5 years of related accounting experience. Must have at least 2 years experience working on general ledgers. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and be able to work under general direction. In addition, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level and prior working experience in various Accounting / ERP platforms is required. A demonstrated ability to lead others, manage and trouble shoot processes is required. Previous experience supervising staff would be an asset.
STARTING SALARY: Grade 11, $36,036 - $48,011
