First Nation community in Nova Scotia is seeking a qualified Accountant to join us as our Financial Controller. You will be responsible for the daily operations of our finance department, including implementation of the relevant provisions of our operating agreements and Band Council Resolutions.
Day to day duties are similar to most other Controller positions - developing annual budgets, providing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and monitor compliance with all funding agreements. You will also be representing our interests to lenders, as well as identifying, assessing and monitoring financial risks and fraud risks.
We are looking for an individual who will help develop and recommend procedures for the safeguarding of assets, as well as supervise our accounting department staff.
We are willing to offer a competitive salary between $80K - $140K, plus benefits for this incredible opportunity!
Qualifications:
- Accounting Designation (CA, CGA or CMA)
- 5 years' experience in management and finance
- Experience working with auditors
- Understanding of federal funding agreements and reporting requirements
- Experience with Xyntax software
