Most转行 are in pure software. It's very hard for them to learn hardware stuff.
There are too many mathamatics in EE.

VHDL(SYNOPSYS, Mentor Graphics), Verilog, CADENCE... if you familiar with one of them, you'll have change in Montreal or Ottawa.
