枫下茶话 / 法律 / need help. I'll go to the court this week for a minor offence, I want to know what will happen in the first appearance, do I need a lawyer? Could anybody recommend a lawyer for criminal offence to me? Thanks.although I can find some lawyers from the newpapers, I don't know which one is good and not too expensive, and I don't have time to try one by one. The police said the case is too small and won't have bad effect on me, but I am not sure what will happen in the court, I need some advice form lawyers.

I am not sure if it is serious or not. The police said it is minor, just like a traffic ticket. He said it won't have bad effect on me. However, I don't want to have any bad record, that is why I try to find a lawyer.I once thought I don't need a lawyer, just explain what happened by myself.

You have right to remain silence. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have right to obtain an attorney. IF YOU CAN NOT FIND ONE, THE COURT WILL APPOINT ONE FOR YOU.

Thanks. I know I'll be appointed a duty counsel if I could't find one. I want to know the difference between the duty counsel and the lawyer I get by myself. I just called a chinese lawyer,he asked $2000. too expensive to me. He said it is a serious criminal. I am very confused.
