Take it easy. Kids learn very fast. Your daughter will be as good as native speakers less than a year.

to you, maybe, since you cant really tell the difference. but they can never possiblly be as good as native ppl.

Kids need to be encouraged. Plus, learning a new language is much easier for them than adults. I have seen so many children from China with excellent English after a year or two. And some of them are evenbetter than their peers at school. Children's ability to learn and adjust to a new environment is almost unlimited.

Don't mislead. It takes about 7 years to close the gap as a kid. If you are an adult, you never catch up.

Most Chinese kids I know are really smart and top their entire classes. For kids moving here before the age of 10, it never takes 7 years to close the gap. Unless they are less intelligent or retarded.

What children do at school are not just multiple choice and math but creative learning, team work, presentation, research based essay and a lot more. To fulfill the tasks require good language and communication skills.

Thx to every one. I'll try my best to help my daughter to melt into the natives, and hope you to give me more suggestionI'm quite worry about the culture gap between the two countries. Since 9 is not a too little age

9 is still ok, but many children need several years (around 6) to completely catch up the native children in language. If the child is over 14, he will have his accent (like us) forever, A ESL teacher told me this before.

An ESL teacher doesn't mean everything. It's hard for adults to get rid of their accent but not impossible. Some people DO SPEAK English without any accent even if they were grown up when they moved to here.

Poor little thing. You can only look down upon yourself . You will never get there at all.

it's not likely unless she is a genius. It takes much longer to learn even for a 9-years-old.
