I think Windows 友好登录 is enough...I am using 2K+XP+98, it seems no problem...

that's easy. The IPC$ is not a valid username. To creat a username and pw is my way to solve it. Heian also explained his way.

In a peer-to-peer network of win2k, you need set up a common username/ password and workgroup to be used by all computers of the network for sharing. This is one of security features, or limitations, of Win2k.

pls. make sure the acct on Win98 you are using has its counterpart on Win2k system with the same acct/passwd. Also pls. use "net use" to check the connection status for "\\<w2k machine>\IPC$"

boot win98 pc and login win98 pc network using a registered user name and password in win2k, you should be able to access shared fold of win2k from win98 pc.
