It is a good idea to keep a copy of BluePrint at your deskUnfortunately, many Java programmers are writing code without making efforts to understand Java architecture. So it depends whether you want to become a competent programmer or a generic programmer.
Both Model 1 and 2 are used in practice. At the same time, some people are using JSP without a clear idea about Model-View-Controller. For these people, they are just writing JSP code.
Nice to know that you are viewing JSP stuff from a high level.
